Snuggle Time

Our family loves to snuggle. When Wes gets Landon up for school he goes in a few minutes early for some snuggle time. Well, Kaylee has just added into the snuggle time. This morning she was asleep so I went and snuggled with Landon for a few minutes and then he wanted to go to my bed, get Kaylee, and all 3 of us snuggle. To say that he loves his sister is an understatement! So I got her up and laid her in bed with us. Landon brought a stuffed animal for him and for her.

I survived!

Kaylee is now 3 weeks old and I have had her out shopping and running errands. Taking her out= not a big deal! Wes and I have taken both kids out...2 parents +2 kids = no big deal...BUT I had not attempted to take both kids anywhere by myself yet. During the week Landon still goes to Nana Irene's. We want to keep his schedule as normal as possible. I really don't think he knows that I am staying at home with Kaylee, so I will keep that a secret. Well, today I decided to embark on the adventures of motherhood with 2. We are going to Destin on Monday, so there were some errands that I needed to run before that, and I had planned to go to lunch with one of my best friends, Michelle and her son. We all got up, got ready, and got in the car. I felt very good about everything until a couple of minutes down the road. The clouds decided to "rain" on my excitement LITERALLY...the bottom dropped out and it started thundering and lightning. Needless to say I decided to turn around and head back to the house. I had 1 1/2 hours before I had to meet Michelle, so I was hoping it would stop raining before that. These are the times that I am SO thankful that I have a garage to keep us dry.

Luckily, it did stop raining and the 3 of us made it to lunch nice and dry. After a great lunch and conversation we did a little shopping then started to head to the car. It was sprinkling, but nothing too bad UNTIL we reached the car and it started really raining. The nice thing about the 4 Runner is I can open the back door and it is our little protection from the rain. I parked the stroller, grabbed the kids, got Landon in on Kaylee's side, let him walk across to his seat, sat Kaylee's seat in, went back around to the back, folded the stroller up, lifted the LARGE thing into my trunk, ran and jumped in the car, and then twisted around and buckled Landon in. If someone was video tapping I am sure they would win 10,000 dollars. I was very comical, but SUCCESSFUL. That is what mattered.

Landon, of course, fell asleep in the car and woke up as I was trying to get him to bed, so there was no nap. I am completely exhausted from our adventure and overwhelmed with all I still have to do to get ready for this trip, but I am proud that I was able to make it out and about with 2 kids even in the rain.

If I can deal with a day like today then I should survive motherhood of 2.

When are we going to Mimi and Bubba's house?

We are heading to Mimi and Bubba's house on March 28, but to Landon that is FOREVER away. Last week we got out his calendar that counts down to Christmas and put 7 pieces on the calendar so he could take one off every morning. I didn't think that I could handle listening to him cry about why we weren't going every morning. This has worked.

Since we only have 2 days left I let him get out his suitcase so we could start packing. He was so excited!

An attempt at a photo shoot

Wes and I decided to attempt a photo shoot with Kaylee. As you can see it didn't go as planned. If I attempt again I will get her dressed and then feed her so she will be asleep or I could just let JCPenney handle the photo shoots. I plan on doing this outfit fit for her one month pictures.

Ok...so if you know me I have always made fun of the bows, but my girlfriends have made sure that I have gotten plenty of them. I will admit she looks precious in them.

The Renos Visit

We were so excited to have the Renos come and visit. They have 2 precious girls, Maddi and Chloe. Landon loves when we can get together and play. He was especially excited that they were coming to his house to play and see his new sister. It still blows my mind that we have all been friends for 10 years and looking back to 10 years ago I would have NEVER thought that we would all be living in GA and be hanging out with our kids. I am so glad that is the way that it worked out. They are GREAT friends!!!

It was a nice day so we got to get outside and play soccer for a little while.

As I look back at pictures of Landon when he was a baby it blows my mind at how much he looks like Wes. I am starting to see little parts of him that might look a little like me, but that is really reaching. He is his daddy's "little me". His personality atleast has a little bit of me in it. He uses the word "seriously" and is becoming very sarcastic, which makes Wes and me so proud. I love that he is only 3 1/2, but he understands sarcasim. The other night he was sitting on the toilet and Wes went in to check on him. Wes turned around and ran into the wall. Landon immediatley said, "Who put that wall there?" We lost it..."That's our boy!"

Now that I have pictures of Kaylee I am starting to think that I actually have a child that might look like me. Check out the pictures below...what do you think? Does she look like me?

Kaylee Elizabeth Sturgeon - 1 week

S'mores

Wes has been begging to start a fire in our fire pit and make s'mores. It has just been too cold for me to even want to be outside even with a fire, but Saturday it was a nice night, so I agreed. Kaylee was snoozing away so we started to get everything ready for the s'mores. It seemed that things were working against us because Wes couldn't find the lighter and the marshmallows that I saw in the closet were as hard as a rock. We were able to solve both problems quickly. Wes lit paper from the stove, and I quickly ran to the gas station by our house. Needless to say it wasn't the easiest, BUT we got it done and it was DELICIOUS!!!!

Landon thought the marshmallows looked "yucky" so he decided to just eat graham crackers with chocolate in the middle.

Nana was still in town and got to enjoy the s'mores too.

Kaylee snoozed the whole time.

A week already...

It blows my mind that Kaylee has been a part of our family for one week. It feels like she has always been a part of us. We all seem to be adjusting really well. Kaylee is a GREAT baby. She only wakes at night when she is hungry, which come anywhere between 3-5 hours. She eats and then it is back to sleep for her.

Landon has adjusted really well. He is still completely in love with her. He asks to hold her...holds her for a second and then says, "Ok mom, it is your turn." He is a great big brother, but we knew he would be before Kaylee arrived. My favorite thing he said the other day was, "Mommy, I am glad Kaylee is out of your belly because I love her so much." This made Wes and I smile from ear to ear. We have tried hard to make sure that Landon has been involved with everything in preparation for Kaylee and it has seemed to pay off. We are now blessed with two precious kids.

Kaylee's Checkup and Stats...

Tuesday, March 8 we took Kaylee to the Dr. for her check up. She did a great job, and Landon did a good job supporting Dr. Messick (aka Dr. Medicine). Dr. Messick said that she looked great and didn't loose too much weight. She did have a little bit of jaundice, but so slight that it didn't concern him at all. We go back in a week to make sure that she is still gaining weight. If she continues to eat like she has I don't think it will be a problem.
I did keep most of Landon's reports after his Dr. appt. so that I could compare the stats of our children. So, here they are...(the percents are a little different because they compare to the same sex)

Weight - 6 lbs. 2.8 oz (10%)

Head Circumference - 12.9 in (8%)
