After spending the morning at the parade, a wonderful lunch at the Hildreths' house, and a MUCH needed nap for everyone we all went to the pool. This was the first time we have attempted the pool since it opened in May. I tried Kaylee's 0-3 month bathing suit on, but she was too long for it. This is a 3-6 month bathing suit, and I don't think it will take long for her to grow out of it too. She is getting too big!

Memorial Day Parade
Our that Hildreths invited us to go to the Memorial Day Parade in Dacula. We had never been, but were excited to go. The only hard part was getting out the door at 7:45 instead of sleeping in. Here Landon and Kaylee are excited and ready to go. I love how she is laughing at him. She loves her big brother so much!
Here are the many faces of Landon.
This parade reminded me of the pride I have to live in a free country and reminded me that it is my job to make sure Landon and Kaylee know the sacrifice of many for our freedom.

Trying out the bumbo
We decided to get out the bumbo seat to have it downstairs, but Landon thought he needed to try it out. It is hard to believe that 3 1/2 years ago Landon could fit in this. Now it just got stuck on his booty. He thought it was too funny!
The Quiet Road
One thing that I never thought that I would enjoy is running, but I was wrong. One would think that I would learn my lesson about saying never. Wes got me an IPOD for Mother's Day and loaded the 5K app. It is an awesome thing. I enjoy getting out and running. I love the quietness and the only sound is music in one ear and the pat of my feet in the other.
I don't know if I will make it to a 5K, but that is my goal.

Invisible Mother...or Not...
One of my best friends, Michelle McMahon sent this e-mail to me and I LOVED it!
It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't you see I'm on the phone?'
Obviously not; no one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all. I'm invisible.. The invisible Mom. Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more! Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this??
Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, 'What time is it?' I'm a satellite guide to answer, 'What number is the Disney Channel?' I'm a car to order, 'Right around 5:30, please.'
Some days I'm a crystal ball; 'Where's my other sock?, Where's my phone?, What's for dinner?'
I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history, music and literature -but now, they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again. She's going, she's going, she's gone!?
One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England. She had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when she turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, 'I brought you this.' It was a book on the greatcathedrals of Europe.
I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it to me until I read her inscription: 'With admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees.'
In the days ahead I would read - no, devoured - the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could pattern my work: 1) No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we have no record of their names. 2) These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished. 3) They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. 4) The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.
A story of legend in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, 'Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof, No one will ever see it And the workman replied, 'Because God sees.'
I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, 'I see you. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does.
No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake you've baked, no Cub Scout meeting, no last minute errand is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are building a great cathedral, but you can't see right now what it will become.
I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree.
When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, 'My Mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a
Turkey for 3 hours and presses all the linens for the table.' That would mean I'd built a monument to myself. I just want him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, he'd say, 'You're gonna love it there...'
As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible mothers.

Great Grandma Daniel's Visit
Well, in my last post I said we were looking forward to Grandma/Great Grandma Daniel's visit. We were very excited when she decided to come sooner than later. She got to come and visit for a whole week. Landon LOVED having her here. She did some baking and the rest of the time she just RELAXED, which is exactly what she needed!!!
Now she is off to mom's house for a week, and then my Aunt Carolyn's house.

When will I be get to make the rules?
The other day Landon, Kaylee, and I were in the car and Landon was making this annoying noise over and over. Here is how the conversation went...
Me: Landon, please stop making that noise it hurts my ears.
Landon: Why do you get to make all of the rules?
Me: Because I am your mom.
Landon: When do I get to make the rules?
Me: When you are a daddy.
Landon: but I am not a daddy
Me: I know, but some day you will be big, get married, and have kids. Then you will be a daddy.
Landon: Then I can make the rules and tell my kids what to do.
Me: Exactly
Landon: ok...that's a good idea
I just had to laugh...he is such a funny kid!

Our boy is growing up...
We are blown away each day with the things Landon comes home and says. Nana Irene teaches him so much and we just continue what she is teaching him. We have been working at home with him on writing his name and Nana has also helped him. The top Landon she wrote and the rest he did. We are so proud of him!
(Gotta love the peanut butter on his face along with the fake smile!)
Kaylee - 2 months
I can not believe that our little girl is already 2 months old. She is changing so much! She loves to talk to you and give HUGE smiles. Her reflux is completely under control. She is finally a happy baby, which makes us so happy! She is starting to interact with Landon, which makes him excited! She has also received her nickname. Wes likes to call her "princess", but to me she is "little bit".
We went to the Dr and they said she looks great.
Here are her stats:
Weight: 10lbs. 9.7 oz. (38%)
Height: 23 1/4 in. (73%)
Head circumference: 14.9 in. (21%)

I couldn't believe that she was in the 73% for height. We knew she was getting long because we had to adjust her car seat straps.
She also had to get 3 shots and let me tell you she was NOT happy. Now that the reflux is under control she only cries when she is hungry or bored and it is more of a little WAH just to let you know she is there. Well, at the Dr. she let them know that she has a full set of lungs and boy do they work. Luckily, she is like Landon and was easy to calm down.
Here are some pictures of her once we got home.
Still a little sad.
I didn't have to work too hard to get these next smiles.
Her poor leg with her first boo boos.
