5 days of Terror

Wes and I, each year, take a day to spend together shopping. This year was no different. I had planned for Friday, December 13 all month. (Maybe I should have rethought that since it was Friday the 13th.) While I was in planning with my grade level on Thursday/12th, I go called down to the clinic because Landon was in there. My heart sunk...when I got to him he had a temp of 101...ugh this meant no date with the hubby. Landon just acted very puny all night and his temp stayed at 101 without meds.

Friday morning I decided to still stay home with the boys. I got up to take Kaylee to Nana's so she would not be around the fever stuff. When I got home around 8:45 Landon was still in bed. I thought it was odd, but when you are sick you sleep more. About 9:15 I told Wes that I needed to go and check on him. When I got to his room he barely opened his eyes. I felt his head with my hand and he was BURNING up without covers on. I grabbed the head thermometer...1st reading - to high to read...2nd reading - 105.4...3rd reading - 104.9...By this time I screamed for Wes and went into FULL PANIC MODE!!! When I tried to move Landon he just moaned and my tears started. I got him moved to where I could get Motrin in him and cool rags on him. I scooped him up and ran him to the car. (This is when super mom strength kicks in. He is one heavy boy and I flew down the stairs with him.) Thank God Wes was home to drive us otherwise I would have called 911. There is no way that I could have made it to the hospital. We took him to the Children's Hospital. By the time they got us back his Motrin had kicked in and he was at 102. They did a full examination and after some tests said it was a virus. UGH!!! Not the words I wanted to hear.

Saturday his temperature kept jumping up when the medicine would wear off, but Sunday morning he woke up and said he felt great. WOO HOO!!! All day he played and talked and NO FEVER! Then the "witching hour" (4:00-5:00) hit and he was down for the count. His temp went back to 101 and he started complaining of an ear ache. I decided that we were going back to the Dr. Landon does not complain unless something is really wrong. I am SO glad that I listened to my gut. He now has an ear infection, which means MEDICATION!!!

Monday he woke up without a fever. Luckily dad was off most of the day. He brought him to me at school at 3:30 and this is what I saw...A SMILE!!!

This is the BEST thing that I have ever seen. Not seeing this smile on his face was horrible! I am so glad that my little man is ok!!!

Evening with Santa

Each year my school does a night with Santa. This is where the kids get to see Santa and then stay for a movie. This year I felt like Kaylee was old enough to stay up and actually watch a movie. She loved sitting on Santa's lap and enjoyed watchin the movie.

These two love each other more and more each day. It melts my heart! What I love about this picture is that Landon usually grabs Kaylee's face and pulls her to him, but this time she did it to him. PRICELESS!

Conversations with Mr. Elf

Mr. Elf was sitting on the mantle and Landon asked me if he told Mr. Elf what he wanted for Christmas if Mr. Elf would tell Santa. I told him of course, so he proceeded to tell Mr. Elf what he wanted. Well, Kaylee then wanted a turn, but she wanted me to hold her so she could get closer to Mr. Elf. (I think that he freaks her out a little.) I picked her up and she says, "Mr. Elf I want a baby." Before I could say anything Landon hits his head and say, "I sure hope she is talking about a fake one!".

I lost it laughing and totally agreed with him!!! Yes, a fake baby is all she wants for Christmas. I guess the 9 she has at home isn't enough.

Mr. Elf

Mr. Elf has come back to visit us. Here are some of the fun places that he has been.

He knew Landon was sick, so he had a sick day too!
(He is cuddling with Mr. Freeze to get his fever down!)

If you have been to our house you know we have a zip line in our back yard, well Mr. Elf decided to make a zip line of his own.

Christmas Photo

I usually get professional pictures taken, but this year time just flew by, so I hired my mom to take some shots of us. We had to have some silly ones, but ended up with a great photo and it was FREE!!!

The Lake

One of our favorite places to eat in the summer, especially on Sundays, is the Lake. It is quiet, beautiful view, and we get to eat outside! We enjoy this time as a family!

Diaper Freedom

Kaylee has ROCKED this potty training! In October she stopped taking naps in diapers! As you can tell she is PROUD!

Then in November she stopped sleeping in diapers at night. We have had very few accidents. (The only time we have had a problem is when someone gets milk/water after 6:00! Whoops!)

Kaylee we are so proud of what a big girl you are turning into, but you will always be out Little Bit!

Soccer Comes to an End

We had a great season playing soccer this year. Wes was excited that he got to help out to much and cocoach the team. I think Landon enjoyed it just as much! I had fun being the soccer mom and putting together their party. I did have a great little helper! (Thank you Little Bit!)

Unfortunately, when we took out the trophies one of them was broken. Luckily, it was Landon's. That doesn't mean that some tears weren't shed, but we got it fixed.

Landon got the award for being most dependable. I think that his coach nailed that on the head. He is defintily a very dependable child!

Cold Soccer Game

Even though we were all FREEZING at Landon's soccer game, Kaylee found a way to stay warm snuggling with EVERYONE!

SHE ATE THE BABIES???

One of my very best friends and coteacher is pregnant with twins. I had told Landon and Wes, but hadn't told Kaylee until one Saturday morning she was walking around carrying two babies. I told her to come over to me and here is how the conversation went...

Me: How many babies do you have Kaylee?
Kaylee: 2 babies
Me: Well, Mrs. Kristi is going to have 2 babies also
Kaylee: Where her babies at?
Me: They are in Mrs. Kristi's belly.
Kaylee: (stomps her foot and then puts her hands on her hips) What mommy? Mrs. Kristi ate her babies? We don't eat babies!!!!

After I collected myself I was able to explain, but her response was PRICELESS!

Fernbank Museum

Mimi and Bubba got us passes to the Fernbank Science Museum, so we thought we would take a family trip there one weekend. We packed our lunches and had a picnic in the back of the truck.

Landon is obsessed with dinosaurs, so he we so excited to see a replica of a real T-Rex. It was HUGE!

We got to go to a show where they did science experiments and Landon got to participate. Kaylee was too young, but she wanted to put on the glasses!

It was a great day spent with my crew!

Halloween

I found this adorable shirt and a spider bow that we loved so much. I am not that big into bows, but this one was PRECIOUS!!!
Our school always has a fall dance where the kids dress up. This time I decided to help with the set up so that I could just be a mom during the dance. One of my best friends, Krsiti and he daughter Olivia went with us. The kids always have a blast. The funny thing for me, this time around is that Landon had a bunch of friends that he wanted to "hang" out with. It was sad and exciting all at the same time.

Kaylee got her face painted by a beauty queen girl, but Kaylee called her a princess. She did an awesome job!
Thursday night rolled around and it was "real" Halloween. My ninja turtle and Tinkerbell were ready to go.

We always hang out and trick or treat with the Hildreths. The kids love to hang out together!

We had a great time, but it is always exhausting. I think that Halloween should ALWAYS fall on the last Friday of October!

1st Report Card

I can not believe that my baby boy has completed his first 9 weeks of school. He ROCKED his 1st report card with all E (Exemplary). He was on the Principal's List and he was awarded the Good Citizen for his class. Way to go Landon!!! We are so proud of you!!!
