Sleep...

I know, from having Landon, that the end of pregnancy and beginning of a newborn you have to kiss the wonderful world of SLEEP goodbye, but Kaylee has made my definition of sleep completely different. It has been a year since I have had CONSECUTIVE days of full nights sleep, until Kaylee started big girl food and whole milk. This week I was able to sleep 4 WHOLE NIGHTS. Unfortunately, I think my body truly enjoyed the sleep which made me continue to stay in bed instead of getting up. I know she is a different child then Landon, but I also think it had to do with the soy formula that she was on. It seemed to be much thinner than regular formula. Either way I can say that I, and my body, are very excited to start truly sleeping again. Let's hope it continues!!!

Peak and Pit

As you all know I am a reality show junkie. I don't know why it sucks me in, but it does. As I was watching the Kardashians they were talking about the pit and peak of their trip. They said they did this a lot as they were kids. Fast forward to a week later as I was sitting in a meeting a friend told me about a family she knew that did their pit and peak of the day at dinner. Then in a book I am reading the guy talked to his kids at bedtime about the successes of their day. I started thinking and felt that it was "my sign". I told Wes that I wanted to start doing this at dinner with Landon and Kaylee and it has been PRICELESS!!! Landon is now starting to ask us before we ask him. I LOVE IT!

Yesterday, we were going to dinner with friends so I knew we wouldn't have that sit down family time so I decided to ask him about his pit and peak while we were in the car. We talked again about what each word meant and that sometimes we wouldn't always have a pit, but we should always find a peak of the day even if it was a rough day. He sat for a minute and said, "My good thing (peak) was helping Nana Irene get Isabella's shoes from upstairs. My bad thing (pit) was we didn't get to eat upstairs for lunch." I had to laugh because I was able to come to the conclusion that he likes to go upstairs at Nana Irene's house. He quickly wanted to know what mine were and as soon as he walked in the door he asked Wes what his were too.

I love two things about this...it starts a conversation about our true feelings about the day instead of just "it was fine". I think this ritual will be important as they get older, but it is precious to hear now too! The second thing I love about this is it is a ritual they can continue when they have kids. I love starting new things as a family!

Where is Landon?

Landon loves playing hide and go seek. This time he had Nana looking for him. He was getting frustrated because Nana could always find him, but the funny thing is he giggles the whole time he is in hiding so it makes it a little easier. This time he said he had a really good hiding place, and he was right.

Kaylee's New Shoes

Great Grandma Daniel bought Landon his first pair of shoes when he was a baby so she was very excited to buy Kaylee her first pair of shoes too. Since my mom and grandma were in this past weekend I decided it would be great for them to be there when we bought them.

We got her some cute little pink tennis shoes from Stride Rite.

She was hysterical. Here she is checking them out. I am sure she was saying, "What are these things on my feet?"

Then she was off and playing!

Landon's Old Hiding Place

When we first moved into this house we weren't able to fill up all of the cabinets in the kitchen so Landon decided that one of the cabinets was his hiding space. Well, Kaylee has hit that age where she was trying to climb into the cabinets. The only difference is we have JUNK in all of them. Friday I spent nap time cleaning her out the same cabinet that Landon used to play in. I put some of her toys in there to lure her in. When she got up from nap she was so excited to be able to climb in and not get in trouble.

Then Landon had to try it out too. She was excited to have him in there with her. I think he is a little big, but they had fun together.

I can't believe he used to be her size.

Kaylee says, "No more baby food!"

After Kaylee was sick she started fighting me when I tried to feed her. She would swat at the spoon and get it EVERYWHERE!!! I was getting really aggravated because she wasn't eating and she was making a mess! While my mom was here I decided to try "real" food with her. I cooked her some peas, carrots, and a half of a grilled cheese. Then it was time to try it out.

Then she decided that she didn't want me to break it up. She would rather just take a bite out of the sandwich herself.

I think for her first try at food she did great. I am so proud of my baby girl!
